The Brazilian government has presented its budget proposal for next year, amounting to BRL 2.86 trillion, reports Convergencia Digital. Delivered to Congress, the bill expands the budgets of the ministries of Communications to BRL 1.3 billion (+77%) and Science, Technology and Innovation to BRL 7.2 billion. It also earmarks BRL 1.24 billion for state-owned telecommunications infrastructure provider Telebras for investments in the geostationary satellite (BRL 748.7 million), the submarine cable to Europe and the expansion of the public backbone (BRL 500.0 million).
